The House Republican Party in the US Congress has been locked in days of embarrassing deadlock by being unable to agree upon a new Speaker for the House to fill the position that Nancy Pelosi finally vacated after a career so long in politics that technically she could have ordered the assassination of JFK.
After the Unexpected-by-Swamp-Dwellers failure of the Republicans to win a landslide in the US mid-terms the GOP had at least hoped for a sense of victory in taking over control of the House agenda. The swamp’s expectation was that Rep. Kevin McCarthy would be the natural choice for Speaker since he was already Majority Leader.
How wrong they were.
And so they, admirably, tried again.
And again.
Perhaps they were enjoying being wrong?
Or a little too gluttonous for punishment?
So they carried on like this for while.
And on.
At around which time this happened.
And even this.
But none of that made a bit of difference.
Because by now it was obvious that everyone would just rather count to ten.
